020I can see the first
tip of autumn
seeping through the veins
of a leaf
one far off in the distance
at the base of a misty mountain
one much too far away to touch
from behind concrete walls and
screened in, airtight windows
but I see it, the tree, a maple tree,
in all its autumnal glory
withering away
the slow death of the cold months
a graceful fall
more beautiful than its life

  1. “Seeping through the veins”
    Really like that line.

And, just something I noticed, at the end it says, “More beautiful that its life.” Did you want it to be “than its life” instead, or is that intentional?
